Hello everybody, our second day at the Biological Station of Cuerici was surrounded by a cold air that gave us the guideline to adapt to the climate of the heights above 2,500 msnm, it gave us a unique sense of peace only overshadowed by such an explosive and unique team, we could see the mountains of Cuerici, Cirripo and Uran surrounded by old and very tall oaks (∼55 mts) in conjunction with carrisos (Chusquea talamancensis) and many epiphytes.

The second day in Cuerici consisted in taking the next step, we learned how to use more efficiently the lanyard, this helps to be suspended in the air and connected by two parts (main rope and lanyard), it turned out to be very useful to collect specimens in the canopy, place camera traps and helps to rest the body in an unconventional way with the main line.
The hardest part of using the lanyard I think is grabbing it to connect it to your waist, Jeremy showed us how to use some extra tools to catch it.

We had (in my opinion) one of the best views in all of Costa Rica and one of the best views during our entire course. Cat opened up in a very special way with the group that went up to the lookout point, it was very touching as she told us about her experience of student, it shows that, despite everything, we are all human and we share a lot in common.

it was great to be able to manipulate the epiphytes in a safer way, on this day we really learned how to do science in the canopy.

Cueric turned out to be a magical place, you can see many interesting plants of various sizes, colors and shapes among the trees.
